Heavy rain is affecting many areas across Vietnam, causing flooding, landslides and traffic disruptions. Some tourist attractions have temporarily closed to visitors or suspended certain activities to ensure safety.
If you are living or traveling in Vietnam, check the weather and traffic conditions before setting out.
In particular, if your itinerary includes Ninh Binh, Nghe An or Thanh Hoa, ongoing heavy rain is directly affecting some tourist attractions and roads.
Ninh Binh: Some tourist attractions temporarily suspend operations
Heavy rain and flooding are affecting tourism activities in Ninh Binh. Some tourist activities in Trang An and Thung Nham have been temporarily suspended since September 16. Overnight stays at Cuc Phuong National Park have also been suspended since September 16 until further notice.
If you are planning to take a boat trip, visit outdoor attractions or go trekking in Ninh Binh, check directly with the attraction or tour operator before departing. Avoid traveling independently to areas where activities have been suspended.
Heavy rain has caused deep flooding on a section of National Highway 48 in Nghe An, making it impassable for vehicles. At one point, the water reached nearly 1 meter deep, forcing authorities to put up barriers and prohibit vehicles from entering the dangerous area.
If you are traveling by car, motorbike or tour bus, check road conditions before setting out and prepare an alternative route. Do not attempt to cross deeply flooded areas, even if the water appears to be receding.
In Thanh Hoa, prolonged heavy rain has caused landslides on some mountainous roads, affecting travel.
Travelers should not cross barriers or enter areas under landslide warnings.
In heavy rain, travel itineraries can change very quickly. An attraction may temporarily close, a road may become flooded or blocked by a landslide, and travel times may be longer than usual.
